Rijiju’s challenge to SC authority

Union law minister Kiren Rijiju’s statement that the collegium could issue notification for judges’ appointments if it thought the government was sitting over its recommendations tantamounts to an open challenge to the authority of the Supreme Court. It is a reprehensible comment that breaches the line of protocol and propriety between the executive and the judiciary. The fine balance between these two pillars of constitutional democracy must be maintained. The best leaders are those who know how to run the system smoothly.
