Israeli filmmaker’s remarks unfortunate

-

Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid’s uncalled for and out-of-context comments about the film, The Kashmir Files, were in such bad taste that Israel’s ambassador had to express regret. One may disagree with the content of a film but the selection of words to comment about it should be appropriate and relevant. The Kashmir Files may be anything but vulgar. Such comments from a person from a country that underwent the tragedy of holocaust are unimaginable but even got support from actors like Swara Bhaskar. Selection of a controversial film-maker in the IFFI jury should not have taken place and if he had reservations, it should have been confined to jury members and reflect in the rating of the film, but a public outburst was unjustified.
