Famous artist Vincent Van Gogh had said: “I dream of painting and then I paint my dream.” This would be true of many artists. The Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi went through the dreams painted by professional and student artists for awards and display at the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi Annual Art Exhibition coming up in March.

In the professional category, three awards of Rs 50,000 each were given to Aradhna Tandon (painting), Manjot Kaur (painting) and Manmeet Kaur (graphics). Merit certificates were awarded to Jaspal Kamana (photography), Sandeep Kumar (drawing) and Ila Choudhary (mixed media).

In the students’ category, five award winners of Rs 25,000 each included Kaneesh Panotra (mixed media), Raman Kumar Khushwa (mixed media), Garima Chandhok (photography), Deeksha Soni (graphics) and Kuldeep (mixed media). Besides this, to encourage the pursuit of art, merit certificates have also been awarded to Chitra Bhadani (sculpture), Tarundeep Kaur (painting) and Manisha Bhatia (graphics). A special award, for unconventional work was given to Sanchit Abhay Gupta (sculpture).
