Actor Nandish Singh shares his views on the harassment allegations against Vikas Bahl, the director of his debut film
I’ve never spoken to Vikas about his personal life. I only know him professionally, and have only good things to say about him. If I knew him better, I’d be able to judge him as a person... I don’t know his side of the story. NANDISH SINGH ACTOR
Actor Nandish Singh, who is best known for his TV show Uttaran, is soon going to make his Bollywood debut with one of the leading roles in the Hrithik Roshan-starrer Super 30.
The film, however, has been in the news of late because of the sexual harassment allegations made against its director Vikas Bahl, who has reportedly been dropped from the film now. Ask Nandish what he feels about this, and he says, “I think it has become a national issue. At the end of the day, I have never spoken to Vikas about his personal life. I only know him professionally, and have only good things to say about him. I have seen only those things so far [with him]. If I knew him better, I would be able to judge him as a person. I met him only on the sets, so I don’t know his side of the story.”
Having said that, Nandish says that he is definitely aware about every aspect of the case. “Yes, I have read and seen all the news. Hrithik also took a stand, [and I feel] that is the correct thing to do. He said that ‘Somebody who is there in this kind of a situation, I wouldn’t want to work with him’. He did not specifically say that ‘I will not do it’ or pronounced anybody guilty. That’s what I would also say,” says Nandish.
The actor adds, “At the same time, I don’t know much. I haven’t gotten a chance to know him (Vikas) further than the professional relationship [we had]. I hope that’s not true, and that his side of the story is different.”
With the director no longer at the helm, there are doubts whether the film will be able to meet its release date of January 25. Nandish reveals, “We have finished the shoot. At least my parts are absolutely done. Maybe a patchwork here and there, or reshoot might be required, but I’m not aware of it. January 25 is the date mentioned to us.”
