Meditation has been a game changer for actor Mohit Malhotra
Actor Mohit Malhotra has come back a calm and happy person after a 10day Vipassana session that he recently underwent. He also feels that he now knows himself much better. And it was a book that revived his interest in spirituality.
“I was reading The Z Factor: My Journey as the Wrong Man at the Right Time by Subhash Chandra, and I was really inspired by his story and how he came to set up this big empire. And Vipassana played a big part in his career so it [inspired] me to try that for myself,” says the actor, who is known for TV shows such as Sasural Genda Phool, Beintehaa and Jamai Raja.
Talking about the session, which he underwent at a centre in Igatpuri, Maharashtra, the actor says, “It was an absolutely overwhelming experience. It was really hard to stay there without a phone and maintain silence for 10 days. It really gets on to you after a while and a lot of people are not able to beat it. I have heard that many even run away from the centre. It requires incredible patience and willpower to complete the course. You are not even allowed to make eye contact because the eyes also speak. By the end of it, though it was hard to stay, I learned a lot about myself and I feel this has really helped me evolve as a person.”
The actor would like to go back to the centre and also urges his own friends to try it once. “I absolutely will recommend it to others. It has been a game changer for me. I have learned so much from it,” he adds. Though strictly away from idol worship, the actor was always spiritually inclined. “I don’t practice meditation as much as I’d like to. Spirituality makes you understand life better and makes you peaceful,” he says.
