head, human resources, tata capital Why is your company a great place to work in?

Our company’s brand promise is “We only do what’s right for you”. This promise applies not only to our customers, vendors and all external interfaces that we have, but most importantly, to our employees too. This translates into us having a fair, transparent and meritocratic culture. We are also a very young and fast growing organisation with a great brand and great potential. Our average age (of employees) is less than 35 years. This combined with our employee- centric HR policies, make Tata Capital a great place to work in

Your organisation’s most employee- friendly policy?

We have quite a few employee friendly policies. A few of them being: Flexi time (working hours) policy; maternity leave; sabbatical policy; medical and hospitalisation schemes; insurance coverage (both accident and death); home loan subsidy; advertising of all job vacancies internally and all employees being eligible to apply for those vacancies based on eligibility and merit (iSculpt Policy); and paternity leave

What’s the most unique thing about your appraisal system?

Our appraisal system is directly linked to the company’s strategy, through the implementation of the ‘balanced score card.’ Thus every employee’s key result areas (KRAs), are linked to the overall objectives of the company for that year. Additionally, the KRAs are discussed and mutually agreed upon and signed off at the beginning of the year itself. The system also provides for a mid-year appraisal which help both the appraisee and the appraiser engage in a meaningful and share feedback and improve. The system is also online and completely automated, thus making it completely fair and transparent

Your company’s mission and vision statement?

Our vision is to be the most admired financial solutions partner. Our philosophy is rooted in the Tata Group’s core values: Integrity, understanding, unity, excellence and responsibility. To exemplify these core values in the financial sector and become the leading financial solutions partner in India, with a global footprint. To become a pioneering and forward-looking organisation that is collaborative, nimble, innovative and responsive to the changing financial needs of our clients. To be a reliable and a result- oriented custodian of our clients’ finances. To create an amicable atmosphere of collaboration, understanding and unity. To ensure happy, motivated and engaged employees. To be trusted, admired and respected amongst all our stakeholders: clients, employees, regulators, shareholders and the community at large.

How does it fit in with employee expectations?

This fits in perfectly with employee expectations. The principles and values outlined in the statement hold high significance in the financial services sector and resonate with our employees. They are very proud to work for a company that publicly follows these values. In the financial services world, “trust and dependability” are key factors that Tata Capital brings to the table

Tell us about the induction process in your organisation

We have a common induction process for all new joiness, across all businesses, in our company. This is a “face- to-face” induction programme, conducted at our main offices in Mumbai, wherein the senior leadership team (business and functional heads) personally address all the new joinees and introduce them to their respective areas.
