Foetus found at Kumbra village
■ SAS NAGAR: A seven-month-old foetus, eaten by stray dogs was found in Kumbra village of SAS Nagar on Tuesday.
As per police the children of the village had spotted the foetus being eaten by the stray dogs of the village on Tuesday morning. The children had informed the villagers about the incident following which the villagers had buried the foetus after shooing away the dogs.
The administration swung into action as the news of the foetus being recovered from the village spread. A team comprising of a doctors, an executive magistrate and police reached the spot and dug out the foetus.
“The foetus recovered is seven to eight months old. The gender of the foetus could not be determined as many parts of the body are missing. We are told that stray dogs had eaten the foetus.
The villagers had buried the foetus after putting salt on it,” said Dr Manraj Singh from Civil hospital, Phase 6, who was present on the spot when the
■ foetus was dug out.
“As per the villagers the foetus was wrapped in cloth and thrown in the dustbin from where the dogs picked it up. We are still to establish the identity of the person who buried the foetus,” said Varinderjeet Singh, SHO of Phase 8.
