Foe­tus found at Kum­bra vil­lage

■ SAS NA­GAR: A seven-month-old foe­tus, eaten by stray dogs was found in Kum­bra vil­lage of SAS Na­gar on Tues­day.

As per po­lice the chil­dren of the vil­lage had spot­ted the foe­tus be­ing eaten by the stray dogs of the vil­lage on Tues­day morn­ing. The chil­dren had in­formed the vil­lagers about the in­ci­dent fol­low­ing which the vil­lagers had buried the foe­tus af­ter shoo­ing away the dogs.

The ad­min­is­tra­tion swung into ac­tion as the news of the foe­tus be­ing re­cov­ered from the vil­lage spread. A team com­pris­ing of a doc­tors, an ex­ec­u­tive mag­is­trate and po­lice reached the spot and dug out the foe­tus.

“The foe­tus re­cov­ered is seven to eight months old. The gen­der of the foe­tus could not be de­ter­mined as many parts of the body are miss­ing. We are told that stray dogs had eaten the foe­tus.

The vil­lagers had buried the foe­tus af­ter putting salt on it,” said Dr Man­raj Singh from Civil hospi­tal, Phase 6, who was present on the spot when the

■ foe­tus was dug out.

“As per the vil­lagers the foe­tus was wrapped in cloth and thrown in the dust­bin from where the dogs picked it up. We are still to es­tab­lish the iden­tity of the per­son who buried the foe­tus,” said Varinder­jeet Singh, SHO of Phase 8.
