Puri is new IT secretary
■ CHANDIGARH: In a move that would finally increase the strength of Arunachal PradeshGoa-mizoram-union Territories (AGMUT) cadre IAS officers in the UT secretariat, the Chandigarh administration has appointed Prerna Puri as a new secretary.
KK Sharma, advisor to the administrator, confirmed that Puri had been given the charge of departments of information technology and house allotment committee.
The decision has already been taken and formal orders in this regard would be released soon, he said. But, the position of the department is held by senior Punjab cadre IAS officer VK Singh.
Besides, Sharma, Satya Gopal chairman, Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), Puri would be the third secretary level officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-goa-mizoram-union Territories (AGMUT) cadre in the UT administration. Other officers, who are serving as secretaries in the UT secretariat are: home secretary Anil Kumar, finance secretary VK Singh and MD CITCO DK Tiwari. While Kumar is Haryana cadre IAS officer, other two are officers of Punjab cadre.
VIVEK PRATAP JOINS AS NEW MC COMMISSIONER
A Punjab-cadre 1996-batch IAS officer, Vivek Pratap Singh on Tuesday took over as the new commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh (MC). Pratap has replaced a 2006-batch Agmut-cadre IAS officer Prerna Puri, who has been retained by UT administration as secretary.
Pratap came to MC office with Prerna Puri at around 3.30pm. "My priorities will be development of the city beautiful, but since I am new to this office, it will take some time for me to settle down," Pratap told HT.
Singh was earlier posted as director, technical education and lotteries, Punjab. He has also served at chief administrator of Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA).
