Retirement of chief engineers may leave housing board headless
CHANDIGARH: With the retirement of two chief engineers of Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) on Tuesday, the board now faces a crunch of officials at the top.
The CHB now has left no senior chief engineers and is waiting for panels from both Punjab and Haryana. Meanwhile, a board meeting of the CHB is scheduled for Wednesday, where the matter of giving additional charge for the same would be discussed.
The officials in CHB informed that both the chief engineers have retired in accordance with the Punjab employment rules.
The board had been debating the retirement of both the officials on the same day.
While GS Rosha retired after completion of full tenure with the board, SK Jain who was on deputation to Delhi had sought voluntary retirement.
According to sources, there is a vigilance inquiry pending against SK Jain for taking some undue financial benefits.
The board meeting will also discuss the revised budget of the board and take stock of the slum rehabilitation.
