Cop to face in­quiry for lapse in in­ves­ti­ga­tion

CHANDI­GARH: The Po­lice Com­plaints Au­thor­ity (PCA) has rec­om­mended a de­part­men­tal in­quiry against sub-in­spec­tor Ra­jiv Kumar. The in­quiry has been rec­om­mended ow­ing to lapse on his part in in­ves­ti­gat­ing a case. He was posted with the Eco­nomic Of­fences Wing of the po­lice when the case was reg­is­tered. The of­fi­cer was stated to have acted in "ar­bi­trary and malafide man­ner in con­duct­ing the in­ves­ti­ga­tion" in a case. The in­ci­dent dates back to Fe­bru­ary 2010. A cheating case was lodged against Col Amardeep Singh (retd), a res­i­dent of Sec­tor 9, on the com­pli­ant of his sis­ter Anu­pam Deep Kaur. She had al­leged that her fa­ther Dr Gur­cha­ran Singh, 92, had a joint ac­count with her in a bank from which Amardeep with­drew money us­ing his fa­ther's ATM card and duped her.
