Armed robbers strike at Sector 20 gurdwara
CHANDIGARH: About a dozen robbers armed with sharp-edged weapons entered a gurdwara in Sector 20 at around 3.40 am on Sunday after overpowering the guard and took away Rs 1.5 lakh cash and some important documents.
Giving details of the incident, gurdwara committee president Inderpal Singh said the robbers locked up the guard, Pawanjeet Singh, and granthi Satwant Singh in a room and took their mobile phones. After smashing the CCTV cameras installed on the premises, they broke into the gurdwara office and took away Rs 1.5 lakh cash and some important documents. Interestingly, before leaving, they released the granthi and the guard and returned their mobile phones, but threatened them against disclosing their identity.

A case has been registered at the Sector 19 police station.
The police are on the lookout for Jathedar Kanwaljit Singh Khalsa and sewadar Gurdeep Singh. The police said Khalsa had arranged some Nihangs to commit the robbery on the directions of Harcharan Singh.
