Shashi Ban­ner­jee ini­ti­ated the pro­gramme by plant­ing saplings on the school cam­pus. Students car­ried out a healthy eco walk in the pe­riph­ery of the school. Delhi Pub­lic School, Chandi­garh Delhi Pub­lic School, Sec­tor 40, Chandi­garh, hosted the fourth an­nual in­ter-DPS dance fes­ti­val “Nrityan­jali-2012” on the school premises. The com­pe­ti­tion fea­tured 10 teams from the north zone. The par­tic­i­pat­ing teams pre­sented In­dian tribal/folk dance, de­pict­ing the tradition and folk dance of the re­gion. AKSIPS-41, Chandi­garh To beat the sum­mer heat, students of Classes of 1 and 2 of AKSIPS, Sec­tor 41, Chandi­garh, en­joyed a splash pool ac­tiv­ity. The chil­dren played var­i­ous wa­ter games such as pass­ing the ball re­lay, col­lect­ing trea­sure un­der­wa­ter, wa­ter polo and mango eat­ing. A quiz com­pe­ti­tion on mon­soon was also or­gan­ised. Saint Sol­dier’s School, Panchkula Ac­tiv­ity on fam­ily tra­di­tions and cus­toms was con­ducted for the students of UKG at Saint Sol­dier’s School, Sec­tor 16, Panchkula. Par­ents to dif­fer­ent states of the coun­try like Pun­jab, Tamil Nadu, Ker­ala, West Ben­gal and Hi­machal Pradesh shared their cul­ture with the chil­dren. SD Pub­lic School, Chandi­garh SD Pub­lic School, Sec­tor 32, Chandi­garh, wel­comed the new­com­ers by or­gan­is­ing a fresh­ers party on its premises. A cul­tural pro­gramme was also or­gan­ised on the oc­ca­sion and students par­tic­i­pated in ex­cit­ing games and won var­i­ous prizes. Ri­tika and Rishab Goyal won the ti­tle of Mr and Miss el­e­gant. Doon In­ter­na­tional School, Panchkula In or­der to de­velop var­i­ous skills re­lated to lis­ten­ing, speak­ing, read­ing and writ­ing, Doon Pub­lic School, Sec­tor 21, Panchkula, or­gan­ised a ra­dio show for the students of Classes 8 to 10. The students learnt about var­i­ous skills from ra­dio jock­eys. Shiva­lik Pub­lic School, SAS Na­gar Shiva­lik Pub­lic School, Phase 6, SAS Na­gar, or­gan­ised an in­ter­sec­tion Hindi poem recita­tion com­pe­ti­tion on its premises. The students of Classes 1 and 2 re­cited po­ems on dif­fer­ent themes like In­de­pen­dence Day, Rak­sha Band­han, books, na­tional flag, teacher, mother and clean­li­ness. Van­shika, Ayush, Prathamjot and Navkaran bagged the first po­si­tion in the com­pe­ti­tion. Govt Model High School, Sec­tor 38-D, Chandi­garh To cel­e­brate the bond of af­fec­tion be­tween brother and sis­ter, Rakhi-mak­ing com­pe­ti­tion was or­gan­ised on the premises of Gov­ern­ment Model High School, Sec­tor 38 D, Chandi­garh. Students of pri­mary sec­tions crafted beau­ti­ful strands of af­fec­tion, ex­hibit­ing not only their tal­ent but also their emo­tions. Sant Isher Singh School, SAS Na­gar The students of Sant Isher Singh School, SAS Na­gar, cel­e­brated Par­ent’s Day on its premises. Students of Classes 3 to 5 wrote let­ters and made cards for their par­ents to show how much they love them. Dev Sa­maj School, Chandi­garh Dev Sa­maj Se­nior Sec­ondary School, Sec­tor 21, Chandi­garh, or­gan­ised a trip to Sci­ence City, Kapurthala. The pur­pose of the trip was to pro­mote sci­ence knowl­edge among students. The students en­joyed the trip and learnt many facts. Blue Bird High School, Panchkula The students of Classes 6 to 10 or­gan­ised an ex­hi­bi­tion on the school cam­pus to project their tal­ent in sci­ence, art and craft and so­cial sci­ence fields. Work­ing as well as non-work­ing mod­els were dis­played in dif­fer­ent rooms and students ex­plained their work­ing to the chief guest and par­ents. GSSS, Sec­tor 38 (West), Chandi­garh The NSS Units and the Ma­hatma Gandhi Stu­dent Le­gal Lit­er­acy Club of Gov­ern­ment Se­nior Sec­ondary School, Sec­tor 38(West), Chandi­garh, jointly or­gan­ised pro­grammes on ‘Save En­vi­ron­ment and Im­por­tance of Trees’. Ra­jesh­war Singh, law of­fi­cer, State Le­gal Ser­vices Author­ity, Chandi­garh, planted a herbal sapling on the cam­pus and then flagged off a rally. Anee’s School, Kharar On the oc­ca­sion of Rak­sha Band­han, Anee’s School, Kharar, en­gaged them­selves in Rakhi-mak­ing ac­tiv­ity. The chil­dren used beads, satin rib­bons, se­quins, mo­tifs, laces and silk threads to make Rakhis. The British School, SAS Na­gar The students of The British School, SAS Na­gar, went to Thun­der Zone fan­tasy park. They en­joyed an ex­ten­sive range of rides like the swing­ing chairs and Colum­bus. The high­light of the day was the wave pool in the wet park, which gave students the feel of a real sea. They were even of­fered re­fresh­ments by The Hin­dus­tan Times Group. Satluj Pub­lic School, Panchkula Le­gal Lit­er­acy Club and Ju­nior Cham­ber In­ter­na­tional (JCI) was launched at Satluj Pub­lic School, Sec­tor 4, Panchkula. The top­ics dis­cussed were pro­tec­tion from do­mes­tic vi­o­lence, dowry pro­hi­bi­tion, hu­man rights, fe­male foeti­cide and hy­giene. Prin­ci­pal Krit Serai said the Le­gal Lit­er­acy along with the JCI also or­gan­ised many com­pe­ti­tions such as paint­ing, slo­gan writ­ing, po­etry, essay writ­ing, de­bate and decla­ma­tion. St Vivekanand Mil­len­nium School, Pin­jore Blood and eye do­na­tion camp was or­gan­ised at St Vivekanand Mil­len­nium School, HMT Town­ship, Pin­jore. A free eye check-up camp was or­gan­ised for the par­ents of students. As many as 75 units of blood was col­lected and 90 peo­ple gave their con­sent to do­nate eyes. GMSSS, Sec­tor 32-C, Chandi­garh Gov­ern­ment Model Se­nior Sec­ondary School, Sec­tor 32 C, Chandi­garh, cel­e­brated Van Ma­hot­sav on the school premises. Di­rec­tor, for­est depart­ment, San­tosh Ku­mar presided over the func­tion. A skit on “Save Trees’ was en­acted fol­lowed by songs and speeches. AC Na­tional Pub­lic School, Zi­rakpur The students of AC Na­tional Pub­lic Se­nior Sec­ondary School, Zi­rakpur, cel­e­brated the fes­ti­val of Teej on its premises. The students per­formed folk dances and par­tic­i­pated in draw­ing and mehandi ap­ply­ing com­pe­ti­tion. GMSSS, Man­i­ma­jra The NSS unit of Gov­ern­ment Model Se­nior Sec­ondary School, Man­i­ma­jra, cel­e­brated Van Ma­hot­sav Week on the school premises. On the con­clud­ing day, mem­bers of In­ner Wheel Club along with stu­dent mem­bers of Eco Club and NSS unit planted saplings of herbal plants such as aloe vera, sada ba­har, tulsi in and around the school cam­pus.
