LUD­HI­ANA: Fol­low­ing a shock­ing in­ci­dent wherein a cus­tomer claimed to have found a worm in a burger served at a KFC out­let on Satur­day, civil sur­geon Dr Sub­hash Batta sent a team of health of­fi­cials to con­duct a raid at the out­let on Mon­day.

Dur­ing the raid at the out­let in Westend Mall on Ferozepur Road, health of­fi­cials col­lected sam­ples of raw and pre­pared eat­a­bles. The team also found rot­ten veg­eta­bles at the eatery.

Dr Kul­winder Singh, dis­trict health of­fi­cer, and food safety of­fi­cers Harpreet Kaur and Manoj Khosla, con­ducted the raid. Khosla said two sam­ples of burg­ers, non-veg­e­tar­ian and veg­e­tar­ian, were taken as sam­ples and sent for test­ing.

He said re­port would come within 13 days.

He said when they in­spected the kitchen, they found some rot­ten veg­eta­bles, which were de­stroyed on the spot.

He said an im­prove­ment notice had been is­sued to KFC un­der the Food Safety and Stan­dard Act.

Mean­while, he said that six sam­ples of salt, su­gar, cold drinks and other things were col­lected from Mo­har Singh Na­gar, for test­ing.
