EATING JOINT ‘SERVES’ WORM IN BURGER
LUDHIANA: Following a shocking incident wherein a customer claimed to have found a worm in a burger served at a KFC outlet on Saturday, civil surgeon Dr Subhash Batta sent a team of health officials to conduct a raid at the outlet on Monday.
During the raid at the outlet in Westend Mall on Ferozepur Road, health officials collected samples of raw and prepared eatables. The team also found rotten vegetables at the eatery.
Dr Kulwinder Singh, district health officer, and food safety officers Harpreet Kaur and Manoj Khosla, conducted the raid. Khosla said two samples of burgers, non-vegetarian and vegetarian, were taken as samples and sent for testing.
He said report would come within 13 days.
He said when they inspected the kitchen, they found some rotten vegetables, which were destroyed on the spot.
He said an improvement notice had been issued to KFC under the Food Safety and Standard Act.
Meanwhile, he said that six samples of salt, sugar, cold drinks and other things were collected from Mohar Singh Nagar, for testing.
