Has­san, Farheen claim top hon­ours in car­rom meet

CHANDI­GARH: Mo­ham­mad Has­san and Farheen of hosts St Stephen's School, Sec­tor 45, won the men's and women's sin­gles ti­tle, re­spec­tively, dur­ing the 15th St Stephen's Car­rom Rank­ing Tour­na­ment in Chandi­garh on Mon­day.

Has­san de­feated Ga­gan­deep 23-11, 22-19 to win the men’s event. He also claimed the boys' ju­nior sin­gles tro­phy by de­feat­ing his brother Aar­ish.

In the women's fi­nal, Farheen out­classed her sis­ter Tuba 2517, 15-24, 21-10.

In other ti­tle matches, Manu Gupta won the girls’ ju­nior cat­e­gory by de­feat­ing Gul­shan. Sahibpreet Singh won the cor­re­spond­ing boys' event by de­feat­ing Yishu Sharma.

Writer and in­dus­tri­al­ist Amardeep Dahia gave away the prizes to the win­ners.
