Kurali eve-teasing case: main accused held
HEAD CONSTABLE KAMAJEET SINGH, WHO WAS ACCUSED OF LETTING OFF AN EVE-TEASER, HAS BEEN SUSPENDED
SAS NAGAR: The SAS Nagar police have finally arrested two main accused involved in attacking the family members of girls whom they were eve teasing in Kurali on July 19.
The arrested persons have been identified as 24-year-old Devinder Singh alias Vicky and 19-year-old Ranjit Rana, both residents of Kurali.
Ranjit Rana has cleared his Class 12 while Devinder Singh is a nambardar. The police have recovered a rod and sword from the accused at the time of their arrest.
The police have already arrested three persons - Yogesh Rana, Chandan and Ashu. All these five persons have been booked for attempt to murder for attacking and injuring Manoj Kumar and Sunil Kumar, who had come to drop their schoolgoing daughters to Shikhandi Chowk in Kurali after they complained of being teased by few persons.
Manoj and Sunil sustained injuries after a group of boys attacked them for objecting to eve teasing. Irked over the incident, residents blocked the road, demanding action against eve teasers. The police had suspended head constable Kamajeet Singh who was accused of letting off an eve teaser.
