80 employees of Prime Focus demand reinstatement
SAS NAGAR: About 80 employees of Prime Focus company, in Phase 8 B, Industrial Area who were laid-off held a protest outside the office on Tuesday demanding reinstatement.
The protesting employees of the company said that they have been employed with the company for the last 18 months and at the times of recruitment they were asked to deposit a security of Rs 30,000 each. The protesters alleged that the without any prior notice the company has thrown them out of the job and has denied to refund the security amount deposited by them.
Taking into consideration the sloganeering of the employees police was deployed at the gate to ensure that no law and order situation arises.
“I have received a representation from the sacked employees and have asked the SDM to look into the matter,” said deputy commissioner Varun Roojam.
This is the third time when the employees have resorted to strike in last 18 months. On the previous two occasions the matter was sorted after the management had met their demand of increment. The employees alleged that the management had sacked them without prior notice and have also declined to return the security deposited by them. The employees are also considering pursuing legal recourse.
