FOCUS ON BUDGETARY ALLOCATIONS

Hindustan Times (Chandigarh) - Live - - FRONT PAGE -

Should the municipal corporation councillors be held accountable for the unspent funds in their respective wards? The issue of ward development fund has been dogged by controversy since its inception. The councillors should rather focus on allotting money under different budgetary heads than cribbing about the actual money spent. The public will be deprived from the civic amenities unless accountability is attached to these funds. Taxes are being imposed on locals, but facilities are not being provided to them, which almost negates the purpose of having a corporation.
