Cop’s spouse sent in 3-day po­lice cus­tody

PANCHKULA: A lo­cal court sent Vikas, hus­band of de­ceased Chandigarh po­lice con­sta­ble Ta­manna, in three-day po­lice cus­tody on Wed­nes­day. Vikas’s mother Kr­ishna Devi was sent in ju­di­cial cus­tody.

Ta­manna was found dead un­der mys­te­ri­ous cir­cum­stances at her in-laws’ house in Sec­tor 17, Panchkula, on Novem­ber 23. Vikas had taken Ta­manna to gen­eral hospi­tal, Sec­tor 6, where doc­tors de­clared her brought dead.

Later, on the com­plaint of her fam­ily mem­bers, city po­lice had reg­is­tered a case of dowry death against Vikas, his mother, el­der brother and the lat­ter’s wife. Both Vikas and Kr­ishna were ar­rested. Po­lice were yet to ar­rest the el­der brother of Vikas and his wife.

As per the report of post­mortem done on the re­quest of Ta­manna’s par­ents, Ta­manna suf­fered a se­ri­ous in­jury in her stom­ach and bluish marks were found on her neck and other parts of the body.

Lalit Ku­mar, SHO of Sec­tor 14 po­lice sta­tion, said that po­lice would re­cover dowry ar­ti­cles given by Ta­manna’s par­ents in her mar­riage.
