Cop’s spouse sent in 3-day police custody
PANCHKULA: A local court sent Vikas, husband of deceased Chandigarh police constable Tamanna, in three-day police custody on Wednesday. Vikas’s mother Krishna Devi was sent in judicial custody.
Tamanna was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her in-laws’ house in Sector 17, Panchkula, on November 23. Vikas had taken Tamanna to general hospital, Sector 6, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Later, on the complaint of her family members, city police had registered a case of dowry death against Vikas, his mother, elder brother and the latter’s wife. Both Vikas and Krishna were arrested. Police were yet to arrest the elder brother of Vikas and his wife.
As per the report of postmortem done on the request of Tamanna’s parents, Tamanna suffered a serious injury in her stomach and bluish marks were found on her neck and other parts of the body.
Lalit Kumar, SHO of Sector 14 police station, said that police would recover dowry articles given by Tamanna’s parents in her marriage.
