Crafts mela from to­day

CHANDIGARH: The UT ad­min­is­tra­tion will or­gan­ise the fourth Chandigarh Na­tional Crafts Mela at Kala­gram from Fri­day. The mela will con­clude on De­cem­ber 9.

The event is a ven­ture of the Chandigarh ad­min­is­tra­tion and North Zone Cul­tural Cen­tre and will be in­au­gu­rated by UT ad­min­is­tra­tor Shivraj Patil.

The theme of this year’s crafts mela is “The Tribes of In­dia”, where spe­cial fo­cus will be on show­cas­ing folk tra­di­tions, arts and crafts of the tribal re­gions of In­dia, be­sides high­light­ing all the cul­tural re­gions of the rest of the coun­try.

The mela would show­case In­dian hand­i­crafts, hand­looms and folk tra­di­tions, in­clud­ing au­then­tic fra­grances and flavours of rich In­dian cuisines, and also folk mu­sic, folk in­stru­ments and folk dances of In­dia.

The last three edi­tions of the mela were a huge success which at­tracted sev­eral lakhs of vis­i­tors.
