Haryana CCA colts log 4-wicket victory to walk away with title
CHANDIGARH: Varun Bhatnagar’s deadly bowling spell (4 for 17) set up an easy title victory for the Chandigarh Cricket Association (Haryana), against Partap Cricket Academy, Sonepat, in the under-14 CCA Cup Cricket Tournament at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19, on Thursday.
Winning the toss, visitors Partap Academy opted to bat first, and posted a modest total of 180 runs (all out) in 28.2 overs.
Ankit anchored the team innings by making 44-ball 43, inclusive of seven boundaries.
Aakash Khana was the second best run-getter, making a quick-fire 37 off just 27 balls, studded with seven hits to the fence.
Mohit was another notable scorer for the side; he added 36 runs to the team scorecard, hitting three boundaries and two towering sixes.
Vineet chipped in with a sedate 26 off 38 balls, comprising three boundaries.
For the CCA team, Bhatnagar, who was later adjudged man of the match, was the most successful bowler. He was complemented well by Prithivi Lohtya and Aakash Bhardwaj, who took two wickets apiece for 35 and 37 runs, respectively.
Replying, the hosts won the match by making 182 runs for the loss of six wickets in 29.2 overs.
Aayush Chamola played a breezy knock of 53 runs off 50 balls, inclusive of four boundaries and one hit over the top. Surinder contributed 22-ball 27, studded with one boundary and two 6s. Saurav (26 off 45 balls) and Vivek (18 off 18 balls) were the other contributors with the bat for the winners. For the losing side, Sahil and Aman claimed two wickets each for 48 and 42, respectively.
