Cong to raise MLAs’ suspension as monsoon session begins today

-

CHANDIGARH: The Congress legislators will raise the issue of the suspension of its three MLAs on the first day of the monsoon session of Haryana assembly, Congress legislature party leader Kiran Choudhry said on Thursday. She said the CLP will meet before attending the House to finalise its strategy to take on the ruling BJP government on Friday.

Briefing newspersons after the CLP meeting, Choudhry, who was accompanied by nine of party’s total 17 MLAs, including former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Kuldeep Sharma, said they will demand revoking the suspension of its three MLAs, Kuldeep Sharma, Jagbir Malik and Jaiveer Singh, who were debarred for six month from attending the House for tearing the copies of the Governor’s address during the budget session.

Choudhry said the Congress MLAs would take on the government for what she termed as BJP’s total failure on all fronts. “The farmers were being cheated in the name of crop insurance scheme by the government that was acting like an agent of private insurance firms. Likewise, people of all strata— employees, labourers, unemployed youth and traders–felt frustrated because of government’s failure to fulfil even one of its 154 promises made before the elections,” she said. Choudhry said corruption was going up and law and order had collapsed.

Eight MLAs who could not make it to the CLP meeting included Randeep Surjewala, Anand Singh Dangi, Kuldeep Bishnoi and Renuka Bishnoi. Choudhry said all of them had informed her about their prior engagements.

Kuldeep Sharma said sports minister Anil Vij was on an official tour to Rio, but was not there to watch the bouts of Sakshi Malik. “He was either on the beach or in a hair salon to have his beard trimmed,” he said.
