‘Kejri should come clean on denigrating Sikhism’

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh asked Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to come clean on sacked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sucha Singh Chhotepur’s allegation that he “scornfully denigrated the Sikh religion.”

Questioning Kejriwal’s “double standards”, Amarinder said the AAP national convener didn’t react to party’s national council member Pavitar Singh’s revelations that Sanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak demanded ₹50 lakh for the Phillaur assembly ticket. On the other hand, he said, Kejriwal took no time to malign Chhotepur just because he had accepted donation from a party volunteer.

“You are silent simply because you apply one set of rules on the PunjabI leaders and another on non-Punjabis like Singh and Pathak as also they are earning money for you,” the former CM said.

The state Congress chief said he had conclusive evidence about non-Punjabi AAP leaders, including Sanjay Singh and Pathak, using scornful and derogatory language against the Sikh leaders and even making fun of their religious symbols. “Kejriwal has also been heard poking fun at the Punjabi and Sikh leaders and there is a resentment...I will release the evidence in due course of time,” he said.

Amarinder also sought a probe into the alleged funding by US spy agency CIA to NGO Parivartan that Kejriwal ran along with Manish Sisodia, who is now Delhi deputy CM.
