Piyush Goyal asks Haryana power officials to work honestly or quit

ROHTAK Union minister of state for power Piyush Goyal on Thursday warned Haryana power employees of a strict action if they were found indulging in corruption.

“You should either work honestly or quit the job,” he said while addressing power employees of the state here to review the functionin­g of power utilities.

Recently, a video showing Goyal aggressive­ly warning officials of his ministry to desist from indulging in corruption had gone viral.

Haryana IAS officer Ashok Khemkha had reportedly taken an exception to such an attidtude, asking the minister to catch the corrupt but not trample upon the dignity of others.

The Union minister also asked the public not to pay any bribe for any work and report against the officials asking for money at toll free number 1912.

He said that July 1 onwards, electricit­y connection­s would be issued within one week and people will be able to submit documents at 3,500 common service centres set up in villages.

He said cost of LED bulb has been reduced by 88% and the Union power ministry would provide 30 lakh LED bulbs to Haryana every month.

Praising the ‘Mhara Gaon, Jagmag Gaon’ scheme, he asked the public to pay bills to get 24-hour uninterrup­ted power supply maintainin­g that there was no shortage of power if the public paid the bills. HOSHIARPUR: The Hoshiarpur­Delhi Express will be augmented by an additional first AC-cum-AC two-tier coach from Friday.

The extra coach will run with the train departing from Delhi on April 14 and with the one starting from Hoshiarpur on April 15, Northern Railway officials said. The service has been started on trial basis till June 30, they added. The train departs from Hoshiarpur at 10.30pm.
