This is India’s biggest ever win over Pakistan.

The win avenged India’s worst defeat to Pakistan by the same margin achieved twice — at the 1980 Champions Trophy in Karachi and the 1982 Asian Games final in New Delhi. India’s previous best win against Pakistan was 7-4, registered twice– in the 2003 Champions Trophy in Amstelveen and the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Delhi. It was also India’s fourth consecutive win against Pakistan. India won 5-1 in the 2016 Sultan Azlan Cup and 3-2 twice in 2016 Asian Champions Trophy. This was India’s 56th win against Pakistan in 168 matches. Pakistan have won 82 and 30 were draws.
