SIKH MUSEUM TO BE SET UP AT NANKANA SAHIB
FATEHGARH SAHIB: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will set up a Sikh museum and music academy for Gurbani at Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of first Sikh master Guru Nanak, in Pakistan.
This was decided at meeting chaired by SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar at Fatehgarh Sahib on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference, Badungar said the SGPC has also decided to set up an institute named after Bhai Mardana to provide training in ‘Gurmat Sangeet’ to children, he said.
He said preparations were being made for the celebrations of Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary in 2019. The SGPC will organise events such as kavi darbar, kirtan darbar and dhadi darbar at Sultanpur Lodhi on November 4, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.
He said that the SGPC executive also decided to set up a library at Nankana Sahib.
Meanwhile, the SGPC chief faced tough time after passing a resolution terming the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission — set up to probe cases of sacrilege — a government puppet.
A visibly upset Badungar, left the press conference in mid-way after a volley of questions from the mediapersons on why the SGPC was not cooperating with commission to identify the culprits of sacrilege cases and why it is spreading “misinformation” about summoning of the Akal Takht jathedar.
Justice Ranjit Singh had recently clarified that he didn’t summon the SGPC president or Akal Takht jathedar for hearing, but asked for requisite information, which they can be given through anyone.
