Court extends Honeypreet’s police remand by three days
HIDDEN TRUTH Cops contend her custodial interrogation is vital for recovering her laptop and tracing key dera functionaries Aditya Insaan and Pawan Insaan, who are on the run
PANCHKULA: The local police on Tuesday secured further remand of Honeypreet, the “adopted” daughter of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, for three days, while claiming that her custodial interrogation is vital for recovering her laptop and tracing key dera functionaries Aditya Insaan and Pawan Insaan, who are on the run, in connection with August 25 Panchkula violence.
As many as 35 people were killed and 250 were injured in Panchkula soon after the dera chief was convicted by a special CBI court on August 25.
In the remand paper submitted before the court, a copy of which is with HT, police claimed that her laptop “chested” a lot of secrets about her overall planning to execute violence in Panchkula after Ram Rahim’s conviction. It has details of fielding of dera members in Panchkula and mapping the city ahead of conviction. “No one knows (the whereabouts) of laptop other than her and to our information, it is lying inside the dera headquarters in Sirsa,” police claimed
The earlier interrogation of Honeypreet found that she was part of a meeting in which the planning was made to spread arson in Panchkula. She even distributed

Honeypreet, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja, was arrested last week from the Zirakpur-patiala highway in Punjab more than a month after she went into hiding. The court had earlier allowed Panchkula police six-day remand which got over on Tuesday. It has now been to extended till October 13.
‘ADITYA INSAAN MIGHT BE IN HP OR GURGAON’ The police had indicated in its remand paper that dera spokesperson Aditya Insaan, who is also wanted, along with Honeypreet, for inciting violence in Panchkula might be hiding in Rampur Bushahr in Himachal Pradesh or in Gurgaon. “Through Honeypreet, we are soon to arrest him,” claimed police.
Sources said police teams are permanently camped at both the places. “His close aides — Naveen Nagpal and Pawan Insaan — are accompanying him too. We are also looking for them” it further claimed. The location of another dera member, Mahender Insaan, who too played a vital role in Panchkula violence, has been traced near a farmhouse at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.
‘HONEYPREET POSTED VIOLENCE VIDEO’
The police also claimed before the court that Honeypreet posted a video of Panchkula violence and the mobile used for it was lying hidden in Uttar Pradesh’s at her relative’s place Bijnor town. Another phone, the police claimed, is dumped at someone known to her in Muktsar.
NO TRUTH IN COPS’ CLAIMS: HONEYPREET’S COUNSEL
Meanwhile, Honeypreet’s counsel SK Garg Narwana said that there is no truth in the police theory about her role in the violence. “She had no role in Panchkula violence. The police have fabricated all this to hide their own weakness in dealing with Panchkula arson. He added, “How can she verify the locations of Aditya Insaan and others when she has not been in touch with them for long,” he said.
WHY IS SHE WANTED
The ongoing interrogation of Honeypreet, the “adopted” daughter of the Ram Rahim, has revealed that Vipassana was part of a meeting that took place in the dera on August 17, wherein planning was made to spread arson in Panchkula, in case of the sect head’s conviction.
