Prez to inaugurate Gita Mahotsav in Kurushetra on November 25
CHANDIGARH: President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate the International Gita Mahotsav at Kurukshetra on November 25.
Briefing newspersons in the regard at New Delhi on Tuesday, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said Kovind will also participate in ‘Gita Yajna’ and ‘Gita Pujan’ ceremonies at the holy Brahma Sarovar.
The Mahotsav, which will conclude on December 3, will have Mauritius as a partner country and Uttar Pradesh as a partner state.
He said the president will also inaugurate the international seminar on Gita on Kurukshetra Universitycampusonnovember 25. Over 25 lakh people are likely to participate in the Mahotsav this year as against the arrival of 20 lakh last year. The valedictory session of the three-day seminar will be held at Brahma Sarovar as ‘Sant Sammelan’ on November 27 in which many religious scholars and seers from all over the world will participate.
The ‘Vaishvik Path’ of Bhagavat Gita would be held at Brahma Sarovar and Jyotisar on November 30 from 12 noon to 12.15 pm, which will involve global chanting of the hymns of the Hindu scripture. Later, Gita Shobha Yatra, a procession of tableaux, will be taken out. ‘Maha Arti’ will be held at Brahma Sarovar daily during the festival days. A lightand-sound show with 3-D mapping at the Brahma Sarovar would give an additional dimension to the festival.
Khattar said like last year, Gita shloka recital, Gita quiz competition and other educational programmes will also be organised for school students.
In a first, the Gita Mahotsav would witness two coffee-table books titled ‘Incredible Kurukshetra’ in English and ‘Atulya Kurukshetra’ in Hindi.
Theatrical performances by artistes from India and abroad would be held from November 25 to 30. On November 30, dancer and actress Hema Malini will perform a dance show.
