Nawanshahr civil hospital gets ₹10L central grant
SBSNAGAR:THE Nawanshahr civil hospital has become the first government health institution in the Doaba region and third across the state to get National Quality Assurance Certification (NQAC) on Tuesday.
Earlier, the civil hospitals in Amritsar and Pathankot were awarded with the NQAC.
A written communication regarding this was received from the ministry of health and family welfare on Tuesday.
The selection was done following a thorough assessment by a three-member team external assessors. The hospital will now be entitled to receive a grant of ₹10,000 per bed for three years, which will be followed by another inspection after the said period.
The facility will also get an annual grant of ₹10 lakh from the Centre.
Deputy medical commissioner Dyal Saroop said, “The credit goes to the former civil surgeon, Dr Ajay Bagga, hospital faculty and district administration for putting in their efforts.”
“The ₹10-lakh grant will help in providing more facilities to the patients. We will try our level best to deliver best services to the patients in future as well,” he added. The team had conducted the inspection between August 17 and 19 and analysed it on the criteria including hospital’s infrastructure,maintenance, paperwork, doctors’ diagnosis, staff performances and the patients’ feedback.
A minimum score required to qualify to be certified as NQAS is 70% and the district hospital scored 90%.
The hospital was opened for the public on September 9 in 2014. Former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had laid the foundation of the hospital on March 28, 2011.
Services such as digital x-ray, sick newborn care unit, rapid crisis cell for sexual violence and harassment victims and five operation theatres were made available at affordable prices by the government.
