It’s really an honour for all Punjabis that one more brilliant cricketer from the state, Siddharth Kaul, has been picked by selectors in Indian squad for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka, starting on December 10. Kaul, a medium pacer, has forced the selectors to consider his inclusion by his brilliant performanc­es in IPL and in India-a matches against South Africa earlier this year and New Zealand last month. Let’s wish and hope that Kaul will bring laurels to Punjab as his seniors like Navjot Sidhu, Yash Pal Sharma, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh had done in the past.

Sanjay Chopra, Mohali beef and leather traders are vulnerable to the onslaught of cow vigilantes, who have gained notoriety for blatantly harassing the transporte­rs ferrying cows and buffalos. This has created conditions detrimenta­l to sale, purchase and transport of animals. Traders are in a fix as they have no means to carry cattle purchased from mandis. Cow vigilantes do not understand that by pushing these bovine into squalor of gaushalas, they are perpetrati­ng cruelty on them.

Dr Soshil Rattan, Amritsar owned by them, the income tax burden is on the assembly. In Punjab, the income of some ministers and legislator­s comes from even illegal sources, but the taxes are being paid by the state. This must be stopped at the earliest to improve the fiscal status of the state.
