Jind man poi­sons 3 mi­nor daugh­ters to death, booked

ROHTAK : The Jind po­lice on Thurs­day booked a man for poi­son­ing his three mi­nor daugh­ters to death. The con­di­tion of his wife and an­other daugh­ter, who were also poisoned, is crit­i­cal.

The de­ceased have been iden­ti­fied as Ko­mal, 17, Kafi, 14 and Ki­ran, 7.

The ac­cused, iden­ti­fied as Kash­miri Ram of Bighana vil­lage, is al­legedly an al­co­holic and poisoned his fam­ily in an inebriated state, po­lice said, adding that he has been booked on charges of mur­der and other relevant sec­tions of the In­dian Pe­nal Code.

On Tues­day, Kash­miri’s wife Su­man and four mi­nor daugh­ters were rushed to hos­pi­tal. The po­lice ini­tially sus­pected it to be sui­cide at­tempt by the woman and she might have poisoned her daugh­ters as well. All of them were shifted to the Post Grad­u­ate In­sti­tute of Med­i­cal Sci­ences (PGIMS) in Rohtak.

Two days into treat­ment, one of the daugh­ters, iden­ti­fied as Ko­mal, re­gained con­scious­ness and regis­tered her state­ment be­fore the po­lice, stat­ing that all of them were force­fully poisoned by their fa­ther.

“The girl in­formed that her fa­ther used to beat them up reg­u­larly and keep them hun­gry for sev­eral days. Few hours af­ter reg­is­ter­ing her state­ment, in pres­ence of a mag­is­trate, the girl died. Later, two of her sisters also passed away,” said Alewa SHO Hari Om.

Po­lice said efforts are on to nab the ac­cused who is on the run, adding that the bod­ies have been handed over to the fam­ily af­ter au­topsy.
