Jind man poisons 3 minor daughters to death, booked

ROHTAK : The Jind police on Thursday booked a man for poisoning his three minor daughters to death. The condition of his wife and another daughter, who were also poisoned, is critical.

The deceased have been identified as Komal, 17, Kafi, 14 and Kiran, 7.

The accused, identified as Kashmiri Ram of Bighana village, is allegedly an alcoholic and poisoned his family in an inebriated state, police said, adding that he has been booked on charges of murder and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

On Tuesday, Kashmiri’s wife Suman and four minor daughters were rushed to hospital. The police initially suspected it to be suicide attempt by the woman and she might have poisoned her daughters as well. All of them were shifted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak.

Two days into treatment, one of the daughters, identified as Komal, regained consciousn­ess and registered her statement before the police, stating that all of them were forcefully poisoned by their father.

“The girl informed that her father used to beat them up regularly and keep them hungry for several days. Few hours after registerin­g her statement, in presence of a magistrate, the girl died. Later, two of her sisters also passed away,” said Alewa SHO Hari Om.

Police said efforts are on to nab the accused who is on the run, adding that the bodies have been handed over to the family after autopsy.
