FEROZEPUR : The Ferozepur Cantonment station house officer (SHO) on Thursday was sent to police lines and a departmental probe was ordered against him for allegedly ‘fabricating’ injuries on the body of Ramanjeet Singh, a cop who was manhandled during the visit of leader of opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira a few days ago.

Ferozepur range IG Gurinder Singh Dhillon said he got a tip that SHO Gurjant Singh was ‘fabricating’ injury marks on the body of Ramanjeet.

“When I visited the police station I found the charges to be genuine. I instructed the SSP to send the SHO to police lines and order a departmental probe into the matter,” said IG.

Harjinder Singh alias Bittu Sangha, brother-in-law of local congress MLA Parminder Singh Pinki, condemned the SHO’S action and termed it as the handiwork of their political opponents to hatch a conspiracy to tarnish their image.

On Monday, AAP supporters and members of Border Area Sangarash Committee had entered into a scuffle over Khaira meeting two women, who have been sitting on a fast unto death, opposite the deputy commissioner’s office, since April 23, to stake their claim on 26 acres of land.

When Khaira on was way to move to his further destination after meeting duo women, members of the Border Area Sangarash Committee asked Khaira to meet their representation but when Khaira’s refusal to do so, they tried to block his vehicle.
