PANCHKULA : A local court on Thursday rejected the bail application of seven accused among eight booked in the Panchkula violence that took place last year on August 25.
The court rejected the bail plea of Raj Kumar, Ranbir, Bhim Sen, Gobind Ram and three others while hearing of one of the accused Rakam Singh was deferred to May 30. They all were accused in FIR no 345 registered at Sector 5 police station in which Honeypreet Insan and Aditya Insan were also named as accused.
On Tuesday, a local court had deferred framing of charges against Honeypreet and others in the violence by the followers of the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim from last August to June 5.
A chargesheet was submitted in the Panchkula court on November 28, 2017, stating the role of top dera functionaries, including Honeypreet, of criminal conspiracy, waging war against the state and hiring or conniving to hire persons to join an unlawful assembly. Over thousand dera followers, including core committee members of the sect, are facing around 200 cases of rioting, which are at various stages at the local court here.
