Eight hurt in group clash in Gurdaspur
GURDASPUR: Eight persons, four of each group, were injured when two groups clashed over an old enmity here on Wednesday evening. First, four persons assaulted a farmer, Pyara Singh, and injured him while he was working in his fields at Mattam village under Dinanagar police station in the district.
Later, Pyara Singh's group allegedly attacked and injured three members of the rival group. After getting first aid from the Primary Health Centre, Singhowal (Dinanagar), Pyara Singh, 50, was referred to the civil hospital,gurdaspur.
The three of the alleged assailants and co-villagers namely Jagtar Singh,jaswant Singh and Harjwant Singh also suffered injuries and all of them were admitted to the Primary Health Centre, Singhowal (Dinanagar).
Meanwhile, Pyara Singh's son Kuldip Singh,who is sarpanch of Mattam village,and some other members of his group, armed with sharp-edged weapons, attacked the three persons, who had come for treatment to the Singhowal Primary Health Centre. The alleged assailants created terror in the hospital and vandalised the rooms of the hospital, said Dr Jyotpal. A case against sarpanch Kuldip Singh and others has been registered.
