Eight hurt in group clash in Gur­daspur

GUR­DASPUR: Eight per­sons, four of each group, were in­jured when two groups clashed over an old en­mity here on Wed­nes­day evening. First, four per­sons as­saulted a farmer, Pyara Singh, and in­jured him while he was work­ing in his fields at Mat­tam vil­lage un­der Di­nana­gar po­lice sta­tion in the dis­trict.

Later, Pyara Singh's group al­legedly at­tacked and in­jured three mem­bers of the ri­val group. Af­ter get­ting first aid from the Pri­mary Health Cen­tre, Singhowal (Di­nana­gar), Pyara Singh, 50, was re­ferred to the civil hos­pi­tal,gur­daspur.

The three of the al­leged as­sailants and co-vil­lagers namely Jag­tar Singh,jaswant Singh and Har­jwant Singh also suf­fered in­juries and all of them were ad­mit­ted to the Pri­mary Health Cen­tre, Singhowal (Di­nana­gar).

Mean­while, Pyara Singh's son Kuldip Singh,who is sarpanch of Mat­tam vil­lage,and some other mem­bers of his group, armed with sharp-edged weapons, at­tacked the three per­sons, who had come for treat­ment to the Singhowal Pri­mary Health Cen­tre. The al­leged as­sailants cre­ated terror in the hos­pi­tal and van­dalised the rooms of the hos­pi­tal, said Dr Jy­ot­pal. A case against sarpanch Kuldip Singh and oth­ers has been regis­tered.
