The police said six accused were still absconding.

As many as 62 sheep were later crushed to death under a train. Another shepherd Sandeep Kumar of Salpani village was injured in the attack and was admitted to the PGIMER, Chandigarh, with serious injuries.

A case was then registered by the Government Railway Police (GRP) under Section 460 of the IPC against unknown persons.

SP Garg said, “We managed to trace them with the help of mobile locations and they were arrested by different teams of district police.”

He said the police produced the accused in a local court and they were remanded in 8-day police custody. Police will interrogate them for information about the remaining six people allegedly involved in the case and the 175 sheep taken away by them.

A police spokesperson said that during the interrogation, it was revealed that accused had planned the murder to loot sheep at midnight and after committing crime they fled using different modes of transport, including train.
