Pregnant girl alleges rape by neighbour

GURUGRAM:A 19-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a 17-year-old woman, a neighbour, who is currently seven months pregnant, the police said. The girl said that she was raped multiple times by the man, who stays in the same building in Palam Vihar.

Vikram Nehra, the SHO of Palam Vihar police station, said the accused, who was arrested, claimed that he and the girl are in a relationsh­ip.

The girl, who is from West Bengal, said she found out about her pregnancy a few days ago and on Thursday, the family approached the police and filed an FIR under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. “The girl developed pain in her abdomen and informed the family a couple of days ago, following which she was found to be pregnant,” Nehra said. The girl stated that on January 10, she was alone in her house when the accused, an acquaintan­ce, raped her in her house.

The officer said the girl’s medical examinatio­n has been conducted and her statement recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the CRPC.

In another case, a 38-year-old married woman alleged that she was raped over four years by her neighbour. An FIR has been registered under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC, said Arjun Dev, SHO of Sadar police station. “The woman said in her complaint that she was raped from 2014-2018 by the accused,” Dev said.
