Financier robbed of ₹2.5 lakh in Batala

BATALA: Few unidentifi­ed miscreants robbed ₹ 2.5 lakh and a car from a financer near Guru Nanak College, here on Thursday night.

The victim has been identified as Amandeep Singh, 35, of Bassarpura village.

Victim’s friend Sarabjeet Singh, 35, who also admitted him to the hospital, said that along the victim was attacked by over 11 to 12 unidentifi­ed people while he was on his way to his village. Sarabjeet and Amandeep Singh run a finance company in Batala.

As per informatio­n, victim Amandeep with his friend Kulbir Singh were stopped by the armed miscreants near Guru Nanak College and thrashed with sharp-edged weapons at around 8pm.

After injuring Amandeep Singh, the accused took away ₹2.5 lakh cash lying in the car and fled from the spot towards Jalandhar road with Amandeep’s car. After getting informatio­n, Sarabjeet accompanie­d by few people shifted the duo to civil hospital. Amandeep’s condition is stated to be critical, said police.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI), Urban Estate police post, Ashok Kumar, said, “Amandeep’s statement could not recorded as the doctors have declared him unfit.”

As per preliminar­y investigat­ions, Amandeep was involved in a monetary dispute with few people, owing to which the attack took place, said the ASI.

For now, no case has been registered as we are waiting for Amandeep’s statement, said police.
