8kg heroin seized near border in Abohar, Amritsar
AMRITSAR/FEROZEPUR: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Amritsar, and Border Security Force (BSF) seized 2kg heroin near India-pakistan border, here on Sunday.
NCB, Amritsar, superintendent Sachin Gularya, said, “We received a tip-off regarding heroin being concealed in a plastic pipe near Sakki Nala. We shared the information with 17-Battalion of the BSF.”HE said, “A team of BSF and NCB carried out a joint search operation in the area of border outpost (BOP) Forward Kakkar near India-pakistan border, 25 km from here. During the operation, we recovered a plastic hollow pipe (29 feet and 7 inch) near Sakki Nala. On opening the pipe, we seized 2kg heroin.”
Gularya said a case under Sections 22-61-85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act had been registered against unidentified drug smugglers. “Investigations are on to find the source of origin and final destination of the contraband,” he said.
In another incident, a BSF team seized six kilograms of heroin worth ₹30 crore in the international market from Abohar sector near Indo-pak border, on Sunday.
In a statement, the BSF claimed that the sleuths of 118 Battalion, following a tip off searched the area of border outpost Joginder under Abohar sector and recovered six plastic bottles, stuffed with heroin, tied to a wooden stick.
