Drunk flight attendant, her friend arrested for assaulting traffic cop

GURUGRAM: A female flight attendant and her male friend were arrested and sent to jail for allegedly assaulting, in a drunken state, a traffic policeman, after the couple refused to undergo an alcometer (breath analyser) test near Sahara Mall on Mehrauli-gurugram (MG) Road on Saturday night, said the police.

The accused also misbehaved with a woman police constable.

According to the police, the woman, 22, a flight attendant working with a private airline company, is a native of Mumbai and stays at a rented accommodat­ion in DLF Phase 4.

The man, 25, is a resident of Janakpuri, Delhi, and works with a business process outsourcin­g (BPO) company in Noida.

According to the police, the incident took place around 1 am, when the accused were returning from the direction of Sector 29.

When their car was intercepte­d at the police barricade and the man was asked to take the breath examinatio­n, he refused to exhale into the alcometer and started arguing with the police officers.

When he was asked to step out of the car, he allegedly assaulted an assistant sub-inspector.

The flight attendant also misbehaved with a woman constable.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections 186 (obstructin­g a public servant), 189 (threat of injury to public servant), 332 (voluntaril­y causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtheranc­e of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sector 29 police station.
