₹550 cr sanctioned for building 3,000 houses for Hry cops: CM
PANCHKULA: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said an assistance of ₹50 crore has been sanctioned through Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) for construction of about 3,000 houses for police personnel in Haryana.
The CM stated this after inaugurating the two-day 6th All India Police Housing Conference being organised by the Haryana Police Housing Corporation (HPHC) in association with Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), New Delhi, in Panchkula.
Pitching for green, ecofriendly, energy-efficient and quake-resistant buildings, he called for adopting ultra-modern technologies like prefab structures, rainwater harvesting, green rooftop and solar energy to create such infrastructure in the state. “The government is fully committed to making Haryana Police as country’s leading police force. All kind of financial assistance and other resources would be provided to the state police,” he said.

About 4,500 constables have already been recruited in the state police while the process has been initiated to recruit 5,000 more constables, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, director general of police (DGP), BS Sandhu said the HPHC has been working to provide a better living and working conditions to the members of police force. He said the corporation has spent Rs 1,600 crore during the last six years.
Sandhu said that an ultramodern office building of commissioner of police had been built with Rs 35 crore in Gurugram. “We are providing all kinds of facilities in new police lines.
Also, 22 police public schools have been opened in all police lines where about 16,000 students are getting quality education,” he added.
Director general, BPR & D, Dr AP Maheshwari stressed the need to construct such infrastructure that can be expanded whenever required.
Besides, multi-storied buildings should also be planned by all state police housing corporations, he added
