WILL HOLD SEPARATE PROBE TO FIX RESPONSIBILITY: DGP
JALANDHAR : A day after chief minister Amarinder Singh ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Amritsar rail tragedy which left 61 people dead, Punjab director general of police (DGP) Suresh Arora on Sunday ordered a separate inquiry to fix responsibility in the incident.
The DGP directed additional director general of police (ADGP railways) Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota to probe the incident.
Interacting with mediapersons after paying tributes to 414 cops, who lost their lives on the line of duty across the country in the past one year, during the 59th Police Commemoration Day parade organised at the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) complex, the DGP said, “There was negligence on part of someone, otherwise this tragedy would not have happened. The responsibility has to be fixed.”
About the profiling of Kashmiri students, DGP Arora said, “I have given instructions to SSPS to ensure no discrimination is done with any student.”
