Ministers review relief operations

AMRITSAR: Cabinet ministers, including health minister Brahm Mohindra, revenue minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and forest minister Sadhu Singh Dharmsot, on Sunday took stock of the treatment being given to those injured in the Amritsar train accident and also held a meeting with district authoritie­s to expedite the rehabilita­tion and relief efforts for the victims’ families.

They also ordered the officials concerned to immediatel­y release the compensati­on announced by the government.

The ministers thanked the NGOS, social service organisati­ons and persons who came forward to help the victims’ families in the time of crisis and donated blood, arranged food and provided help in many ways.

The ministers directed the district administra­tion to complete the process of identifica­tion of families whose members have been killed in the accident so as to provide compensati­on.

The ministers also decided to provide the skill training to the members of victims’ families.
