Woman, daughter dead in mishap

SANGRUR: A woman and her daughter were killed while her husband was injured when a truck hit a bike at Majhi village here on Sunday.

According to police, the trio was going to Majhi gurdwara.

The deceased have been identified as Gurmail Kaur, 45, and Gagandeep Kaur,23, of Bagrian. Gurmail’s husband Harbans Singh has been referred to Rajindra Hospital. Police said the bike was hit from the rear, as a result it skidded off. Gagandeep died on the spot while Gurmail and Harbans were rushed to Nabha hospital where the woman succumbed to her injuries.

The police have registered a case against truck driver Salim Khan, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, under section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code at Bhawanigar­h police station.

“The police have started probe. No arrest has been made so far,” said SHO Bhawanigar­h Pritpal Singh.
