GOVT RELEASES ₹6.53CR FOR 470 ‘SMART’ CLASSROOMS

JALANDHAR: The Smart City authorityr­eleased₹6.53crore to the education department for turning 470 classrooms in 141 schools of Jalandhar into smart e-classrooms, informed the district public relation office (DPRO) through a press release on Sunday.

As per informatio­n, out of the 141 schools, 81 schools were primary, 22 were middle, 12 high schools and 26 were senior secondary schools. The smart e-classes will be equipped with stick personal computers with projectors, white boards, speakers installati­on, 1 KVA UPS, 20 dual desks for students and e-content was being developed for Classes 1 to 12 as per state board.

On an average, around ₹1.39 lakh will be spent on every classroom to give it a facelift and make it smart.

Divulging the details, deputy commission­er Varinder Kumar Sharma said 33,500 students will benefit from this project.

The official said this initiative will ensure that government school students get quality education through modern technology.
