JAIPUR: State Congress president Sachin Pilot said on Sunday that Diwali will be celebrated twice in Rajasthan, first on November 7 and then December 7 when the “Vasundhara Raje government will be given a farewell.”

The festival of lights will be celebrated on November 7, and assembly elections will be held in on December 7.

Congress workers across the state went to all 51,000 booths on Sunday with the slogan ‘booth jitao, bhrastachar mitao’ (win the booth and eradicate corruption).

Addressing newspersons in Jaipur after participating in the campaign, Pilot said party workers will publicise “failures of the BJP government” till the polling date.

“There is less time left for polls, the Congress has decided to reach out to all booths and assign task to workers from today,” he said. “If the Congress wins at booths, then the BJP government’s rule will end and a good, honest and faithful government will be formed in Rajasthan.”

Pilot alleged that the BJP gave motorcycles and money to workers during their booth-level campaign. “Despite that it was seen in the Ajmer bypolls that there were booths where the BJP did not get even a single vote. No one even by mistake pressed the ‘phool’ (flower – BJP’S symbol is lotus); the saying ‘phool and bhool (mistake)’ is right.”

BJP spokesperson Mukesh Pareek said, “The party (Congress), which does politics in name of caste and religion, is now copying BJP; it is now talking of going to booths.

The UPA government broke all records in corruption. Talking of corruption does not suit them.” Pareek said, Congress is dreaming of forming government but people will support the BJP looking at its development works.”

Pilot said, “Now the BJP is accepting that they have to deny tickets to 125 of 160 sitting MLAS. I feel BJP people in Delhi might deny Vasundhara Raje the ticket; this is being discussed as AICC chief Rahul Gandhi is going to hold a meeting in Jhalarapatan, the CM’S constituency.”

After holding the meeting in Jhalarapatan in Jhalawar district, Gandhi will come to Kota on October 24 by road, and the next day a rally will be held in Sikar, he said.
