SELFINVITED MASSACRE, BITTER LESSONS

-

The fact that Navjot Kaur Sidhu was the chief guest shows that the event had official sanction. Even if the event is held here every year, why were the railways not informed? Where were the administrative arrangements for the crowd control when the effigy was burnt? It is an extremely sad tragedy which could have been averted, had the authorities exercised even the bare minimum of caution and due diligence. Chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh has acted fast. We must learn our lessons to avoid such self-invited massacres in future.
