NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday kicked off party’s door-to-door campaign seeking votes and raising funds in the Capital ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Sounding the poll bugle, Kejriwal on Sunday launched the fourmonth-long campaign by leading a team of party workers to houses in the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.

“People of Delhi are very happy with the work of Delhi government, particularly in the fields of education, health, electricity and water. We will tell the people not to be misled by the false narrative of who will be the prime minister in 2019,” Kejriwal said on Sunday.

The chief minister campaigned in Raja Bazaar, Gole Market and areas around Jain Mandir in the constituency. The New Delhi Lok Sabha seat is currently held by Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Meenakshi Lekhi.

As part of the campaign, deputy chief minister Manish Sisoida met residents of Khichripur in Patparganj, while ministers Gopal Rai, Satyendar Jain and Rajendra Pal Gautam campaigned at Maujpur, Saraswati Vihar and Sundar Nagri areas respectively.

“You elected BJP MPS on all seven seats in 2014 and what did you get in return? Did these seven MPS do anything? Is there a single work done by them that you can recall?” Kejriwal was seen asking voters in a video shared by the party.

AAP leaders promised voters that the party would raise the issue of Metro fare hike and sealing ahead of the 2019 vote. They said they would “expose the silence” of BJP MPS on these issues.

The AAP has already announced in-charges of six of the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi. All of Delhi’s seven seats are currently held by BJP leaders.
