2 teachers shifted for asking Class-7 girls to strip; probe on
ABOHAR : Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh has ordered the transfer of two women teachers of Government Girls School, Kundal village, around 15km from Abohar, after a video surfaced that showed them asking 15 girl students of Class 7 to strip.
The incident purportedly happened on Wednesday (October 31).
The teachers, whose identity has not been revealed yet, were reportedly trying to find out which of the girls was wearing a sanitary pad, after a bloodsoaked one was found in the school toilet. After the incident, girl students did not attend school on Thursday and Friday.
The families of the girls complained about the misbehaviour of the teachers to the school authorities and the local administration.
Following this, Abohar subdivisional magistrate Poonam Singh visited the school and also formed a three-member commit- tee. The members are district education officer Kulwant Singh; principal of Government Girls School Abohar, Bindu Arora, and child development programme officer, Geeta Rani, to investigate the matter and submit a report by Monday.
The CM has also ordered education secretary, Krishan Kumar, to complete investigation into the incident by Monday.
On Saturday, this team recorded the statements of victims and their families. The teachers were not allowed to enter the school.
“Further action, as per rules of conduct, will be taken once a formal report is received,” a government spokesperson said.
