Banker held hostage, cash and valuables looted
GURUGRAM: Two thieves locked a 42-year-old banker in the bathroom of his house and decamped with cash and valuables worth over ₹2 lakh on Friday.
The police said the banker had returned home after dropping his wife at a rapid Metro station in Sector 56 and found his main door open. Realising that his house had been broken into, he stepped inside and was held hostage.
According to the police, the banker walked in as the thieves were ransacking the house, but chose to surrender to avoid a conflict.
The thieves dragged and locked him in the bathroom for nearly 20 minutes and asked him to remain silent.
A case was registered under Sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 454 (lurking house trespass) and 380 (theft in dwelling house), of the Indian Penal Code against the accused at the Sector 56 police station.
