Man dies of drug overdose in Kangra, peddler booked
DHARAMSHALA:A 26-year-old man from Indora in Kangra district died of suspected drug overdose on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sachin Katoch, a resident of Churpur village. He worked in Chintpurni of Una district and was allegedly a drug addict.
Superintendent of police Santosh Patial said Sachin had come home for Diwali and left for work on Friday. Later, he was brought to a health centre by his friends in an unconscious state, where the doctors declared him brought dead. The autopsy report revealed that he had injected drugs as injection marks were seen on his arms.
His friends told police that Sachin along with them went to Channi-beli village, where they procured heroin from a woman, identified as Rimpo Devi. Police on Saturday raided the woman’s house and recovered 1.36gm of heroin from her possession.
The woman was booked under Section 304 of the IPC and provisions of the NDPS Act. She will be produced in court on Sunday.
