Man dies of drug over­dose in Kan­gra, ped­dler booked

DHARAMSHALA:A 26-year-old man from In­dora in Kan­gra district died of sus­pected drug over­dose on Fri­day.

The de­ceased was iden­ti­fied as Sachin Ka­toch, a res­i­dent of Chur­pur vil­lage. He worked in Chint­purni of Una district and was al­legedly a drug ad­dict.

Su­per­in­ten­dent of po­lice San­tosh Pa­tial said Sachin had come home for Di­wali and left for work on Fri­day. Later, he was brought to a health cen­tre by his friends in an un­con­scious state, where the doc­tors de­clared him brought dead. The au­topsy re­port re­vealed that he had in­jected drugs as in­jec­tion marks were seen on his arms.

His friends told po­lice that Sachin along with them went to Channi-beli vil­lage, where they pro­cured heroin from a woman, iden­ti­fied as Rimpo Devi. Po­lice on Satur­day raided the woman’s house and re­cov­ered 1.36gm of heroin from her pos­ses­sion.

The woman was booked un­der Sec­tion 304 of the IPC and pro­vi­sions of the NDPS Act. She will be pro­duced in court on Sun­day.
