- HT Correspondent

SRINAGAR : ormer Jammu and Kashmir minister Haseeb Drabu on Thursday resigned from Mehbooba Mufti-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Drabu was legislator from Rajpora assembly constituency in Pulwama district.

He is the second former PDP legislator after Imran Reza Ansari to quit the party since the dissolution of the state assembly in November.“bidding Adieu to PDP. Another phase of life over,’’ Drabu wrote while tweeting his resignation letter addressed to PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on social networking site.

Drabu’s immediate plans were immediately unclear. He is seen to be close to Lone and could join his party. Drabu announced his resignation on Twitter. Drabu, in his letter, said his legislative engagement has prematurely come to an end with the dissolution of the state assembly.

“I don’t agree with the timing and manner of the dissolution of the assembly. It doesn’t credit either the democratic system or its custodian participants any glory whatsoever,” the letter read. Drabu, who he had been distancing himself from party affairs for some time, said that since he had won the elections on PDP ticket, he considered his resignation as morally incorrect as long as the state assembly was intact. PDP leadership is tightlipped on the resignation and the party leaders have been asked not to react on the resignation of former minister.

the wake of tourist rush ahead of festive season, Shimla district administration will be running a special Himachal Road Transport Corporation taxi service from town for maintaining smooth traffic flow. DC Amit Kashyap in a meeting with the senior officers on Thursday chalked out a strategy for maintaining smooth traffic flow in the state capital and surrounding areas during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. DC directed to take appropriate measure for providing adequate parking facility besides uninterrupted traffic flow.
